Environmental measures
Reducing environmental impact and achieving coexistence
with the environment and local communities
Protection of the environment is recognized as the most important issue for mankind, so companies these days need to feel a sense of social responsibility for the environment. The entire Sogo Printing organization therefore conducts a range of business activities that prioritize the environment.
Environmental measures (e.g. ISO 14001)
Acquired ISO 14001 certification
We conduct our manufacturing activities with the reduction of environmental impact at the center of our operations. For example, in terms of raw materials, we use recovered or recycled paper for printing paper as a rule, use water-based coatings for surface treatment that do not generate hazardous substances, and use environmentally friendly vegetable oil inks that are easily biodegradable in accordance with customer requests. Also, in terms of product development, we offer products that do not waste natural resources, such as paper blister packs that do not need to be separated from plastics for disposal unlike in the past and labels that can be easily peeled off from containers returned for recycling.
Furthermore, the Hyogo Plant and Kanto Plant have acquired ISO 14001 certification and are operating in accordance with our environmental management system based on that standard. For example, we strive to raise our employees’ awareness of environmental conservation through initiatives such as displaying our environmental policy, holding regular meetings, and participating in environmental activities including cleanups around the plants and community-based greening activities. We are also working to reduce energy consumption and waste.

- As a rule, we use printing paper such as recovered or recycled paper as our way of helping protect our forest resources in a recycling-oriented manner.
- For surface treatments, we use water-based and other coatings that do not generate hazardous substances such as volatile organic solvents (VOCs).
